2810 Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center Dear Prospective Theatre Student: Thank you for your interest in the University of Maryland Department of Theatre. We hope you will enjoy browsing our website and discovering the passion we have for our scholarship and craft. The Department of Theatre offers a top-notch program where students explore, experiment and experience - challenging themselves to reach beyond the boundaries. Many factors make our program a standout:
Undergraduate Theatre Majors complete a program of course work which reaches across various aspects of theatre - theatre history, play analysis, technical theatre and design, as well as performance. Students may then choose to create a focus in an area of specific interest and custom design their requirements to reflect their interests and abilities. Initially, an audition is not a requirement for admittance as a Theatre Major, however, some performance courses require auditions and some design and production courses require prerequisites. Click here to learn more about our undergraduate program; be sure to look at the information about our yearly Scholarship Audition Day. We know you will want to visit us and view our students' work. To set up a tour of the Department or request a copy of our Theatre brochure, contact us at thetinfo@umd.edu. Sincerely, Rita Phelps Coordinator of Student Services and Advisor |
