Director/Guest Artist/Faculty Program Biography
Information for MARISOL
In order for your 100-word biography
to appear in the program for this production, you must submit
this Web form no later than noon on Friday,
March 28, 2008.
You are responsible for correctly spelling all your
entries on this form.
We may edit your biography for stylistic
consistency, but we won't change the information without
your approval. These suggestions may be helpful:
1. Your biography should be professional and not
personal. We do not include personal information,
dedications, thank yous, etc.
2. Your biography will appear in paragraph form. Write in
full sentences.* Every word counts as part of your
biography, beginning with your name.
*To conserve words, you might choose to "list" credits
after a sentence or two at the first of your biography. For example:
Costume design for film: Casablanca, Ben Hur. Broadway: Hamlet,
Guys and Dolls, University of Maryland: Romeo and Juliet,
Suburbia = 18 words
3. Your name, as you wish it to appear in the program,
must be the first words of your biography. The next words
should indicate your (position with this production) and
then your faculty, staff, or student status with the
Department of Theatre. For example:
Pat Smith (director) is an assistant professor
of theatre whose credits ...
4. In subsequent mentions refer to yourself in the
third person or by last name.
5. Use credits with which the Department of Theatre
audience members may be most familiar.
6. Use full names of productions (The Taming of the
Shrew, not Shrew), full names of theatre
companies ("Olney Theatre Center for the Arts," not
"Olney"), and full names of organizations ("American
Society for Theatre Research," not "ASTR").
7. There is no need to indicate that a recent campus
production was a Department of Theatre production or in
which theatre it was presented. Save your words--most
readers will have seen the production and will know this
information.
8. Because this Web form will not accommodate italics,
indicate italics with underlined spaces before and after
the word in the biography box below (for example:
_Hamlet_ )
9. Because this Web form will not accommodate accent
marks, use the box below the biography box to note words
that need an accent marks.
